Babysitter’s Training (for youth 11-16 years old)

Many students take on babysitting as a first job - yet few receive formal training in child safety, emergency preparedness, or CPR.  Providing access to this training equips students with valuable, real-world skills that increase their confidence, responsibility, and employability.  Most importantly, it can save lives.

Here are a few key benefits:

  • Increased safety for children in your community through better-prepared caregivers

  • Life-saving skills that students carry into adulthood

  • Professional certification, which boosts resumes and college applications

The American Red Cross is the nation’s leader in babysitting classes and childcare training.  Participants learn how to be a safe, professional, and reliable sitter. 8 in 10 surveyed parents said they would pay more for a trained babysitter who holds Red Cross babysitting certifications.

Babysitting Safety Training provides youth (11-16 years old) who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants.  This training will help participants develop leadership skills, learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe, help children behave, and learn about basic childcare and basic first aid.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an American Red Cross Certificate of Completion to add to their resume or share with potential babysitting clients.
